Geocache Description:

An easy roadside cache, though it takes an unpaved road ro get there and a short, steep slope to reach the cache.

I came to Suiderstrand for the first time in 2015, after visiting Agulhas countless of times. I knew Agulhas was a small town, but Suiderstrand... there isn't even a shop! Separated from Agulhas by a 5 km dirt road, this is a tiny area full of seaside mansions. Unfortunately, following the 2008 recession, most of these houses have been for sale for years, and the town hasn't grown into the prestigious area it was once thought to become. When I stayed here, it really felt like a ghost town to me. We met only one other car, and driving through the entire neighborhood, we saw about three houses with their lights on; the rest of the area was For Sale boards or empty pieces of land where house development hasn't begun yet. The cache is on one of these undeveloped plots. I thought this place needed a geocache to grab some popularity away from Agulhas :P
