Of course our home location is Oer-Erkenschwick in Germany, but we spend most of our holidays in Ventry, Ireland, both places are very nice and have their own thrills, so it is not 100 % clear to say where our real home is…
Oer-Erkenschwick is a town in the districe of Recklinghausen, in North Rhine-Westfalia, Germany. When pronouncing the name, “Oer” should be pronounced like the German Ohr, not Ör. (source: Wikipedia.com)
Oer-Erkenschwick is the smallest town with a city status in the “Ruhr-Area”. It is located in the north of this area at the edge to the very landside area around Münster with a lot of farms and horses. So in Oer-Erkenschwick you find all the necessary things for the daily life, for shopping and entertainment you drive the few kilometers to Dortmund, Essen or Recklinghausen, and to relax you can walk through the Haard Forest, a large forest in the north of Oer-Erkenschwick limited in the further north by some beautiful lakes around Haltern for swimming and walking.
