Here at the south eastern entrance to the Bascombe Well Conservation Park, you will find this treasure.
As far as I can gather this R Hornsby & Sons portable engine, is an E Class which produced 8hp and was manufactured somewhere between 1888 and 1895. Vintage steam afficianados may be able to tell you a lot more about this old engine, but, it's an interesting piece of machinery that would have served many purposes on the farms of yesteryear.
It's a good spot to stop here if you are about to head into Bascombe Well, as it is the last bit of decent, flat road you'll encounter for the duration of your journey in there. Please note, if you are thinking of heading in, it is a 4wd only track and taking a car is not a sensible option at all
