Cloudland Canyon State Park sits on Lookout Mountain in the NW corner of the state of Georgia. There is a $5 daily entrance fee to Cloudland Canyon State Park, unless you are a member of the Friends of Georgia State Parks.
This cache is a regular-sized, lightly camo'd plastic container. It is in a level wooded area along the road to the group shelter. If the gate is closed, park near it at the waypoint coordinates. Otherwise, if the gate is open and the group shelter is not in use, there is also parking there. Either way, this is almost a park-and-grab easy cache!
Even up on the rim, GPS signals can bounce! Give your GPS time to settle. Under summer tree cover, our readings of these coordinates ranged from 6-21' within 1/2 hour.
Placed with permission of the park manager and park naturalist. Please take care to understand the basic rules of geocaching in order to help keep the game enjoyable for all who participate. Please do not move or vandalize the container. Replace the cache exactly where you found it.
Sign the log book and leave it in the cache. If you want to take any of other items in the cache, they are there for trade; be sure to leave something of equal or greater value, but don't leave any kind of food items, or anything that is highly aromatic, which could attract critters/creatures/rodents/bugs!
Enjoy your visit at the park and remember to re-hide the cache like or better than you found it and practice, "Leave No Trace." While visiting any Georgia State Park, please obey all park rules and remain on the marked trails as you make your way to find the geocaches!
