Der Rhein ist der Identitätsstifter und Namensgeber für das Welterbe. Seine Ufer sind für die Bewohner sowie Gäste markante Anziehungspunkte. Innerhalb der Siedlungen gebührt dem Ufer damit eine besondere Aufmerksamkeit. Gerade auch weil sich hier verschiedenste Anforderungen treffen: Hochwasserschutz, Aufenthaltsqualität, Freizeitangebote, Stadtbildgestaltung, Verkehrsanlagen, Bauwerke für die Schifffahrt, Kunst und Ökologie.
Das aus dem Kulturlandschaftsentwicklungskonzept (KLEK) entwickelte Projekt R(h)ein-Blicke, soll dazu beitragen besondere Aufenthaltsräume der Vielfalt und Schönheit auch außerhalb der Siedlungsstruktur zu erschließen. Die Standorte der R(h)ein-Blicke laden sowohl Bewohner als auch Besucher dazu ein, einen Moment zu verweilen, um diese einzigartige Kulturlandschaft in all ihrer Faszination hautnah zu erleben.
