Geocache Description:

Enjoy hunting for hidden treasure in the great outdoors? Of course we do! However…

Wait Until Dark

The caching that is fun during the day can take on a whole other dimension at night. Head out on a night caching adventure by flashlight or headlamp and you almost certainly will hear others talking of it as "Great fun!" "Spookier!" "Awesome" "Dark & exciting!" "Adventurous!" "Must do!" -- and that's just a few of the words frequently used in nighttime caching logs.

So as the sun sets and all begins to become dark on July 25, come join us for a gathering at Blue Ridge Park!

Who: You! Whether you have one find or thousands, are from VA, MD, WV or beyond, enjoy the dark or are a bit scared by it, everyone is welcome!

When: Saturday, July 25 from 7:45 to 9:00 p.m.

Where: Blue Ridge Park, Purcellville, VA

Why: To enjoy good geotalk with good geofriends, and of course, learn about the fun awaiting you if you wait until dark to cache! :) Those who wish to can also stay and camp under the stars.

The plan is to meet at the posted coordinates before dusk. For those who have had experiences caching in the dark of night, come and bring your best night caching story. For those who haven't been brave enough to try the adventure yet, come and we'll give you some tips for tackling the unique challenge of finding caches by flashlight! We'll socialize, share tales and great night cache recommendations around a campfire, and perhaps even have a little fun seeking some unique challenges set up nearby.

Of course, don't forget to bring a flashlight or headlamp! Come prepared for the weather too (could be chilly). And beyond that? Well, wait until dark and then enjoy the fun that awaits!

As a bonus, you're also invited to stay around after the event and camp! We have exclusive use of the camping area through Sunday and anyone interested is welcome to camp the night. Demory Field has lots of open field space to pitch a tent to sleep under the stars.

If camping, do please keep in mind the following guidelines however:

- Blue Ridge asks that individuals transport camping gear by carrying it to the campsite on foot.  Vehicles are not permitted to be driven or left for any length of time at the campsites.

- If bringing a pet, be aware all pets must remain on leash at all times.

- Any cooking needs to be done over stoves or on the grill located on site. Do be cautious of wildlife and put food and trash away in secure containers. Fresh drinking water is available at the east side of Demory Field.  Showers & toilets are located at the Education Center, 0.2 miles from Demory Field.  Quiet time begins at 9:00 pm and ends at 7:00 am.

Hope to see you there!
