Kätkön mukana on mahdollisuus perehtyä Laaninojan kullankaivuun historiaan ja nykypäivään. Auton voit jättää Sateenkaarenpään parkkipaikalle. The cache is located near by the small River Laaninoja, having an interesting role of prospecting for gold in the past history as well as present day in the Area. You can leave your car at the Sateenkaari parking area.
Laaninojan kullan kaivuun historia alkaa vuodesta 1871, kun Juha Niilonpoika Kyrö rakensi kämpän ojan varteen ja alkoi etsiä jalometallia. Prospektor-yhtiö aloitti kalliokullan etsinnän Laanilan alueella vuonna 1901 kaivaen yhteensä kuusi kaivoskuilua viiden vuoden aikana. Kallion kultapitoisuus ei kuitenkaan ollut riittävä kannattavan kaivostoiminnan käynnistämiseksi ja yhtiön toiminta päättyi v. 1907. Kätköalueen kahdesta kuilusta toinen, Laanilan kuilu, on entisöity. Se on 20 m syvä. Toinen kuilu on alkuperäisessä kunnossa ja kaipaa entisöintiä. Se on 31 m syvä ja on näistä kuudesta kuilusta ainoa, mihin on louhittu perät. Älä mene liian lähelle kuilua, se on vaarallinen!!! Tänä päivänä Laaninojalla on mahdollista vuokrata "kaivoslohko" päiväksi, viikoksi tai pidemmäksi aikaa ja kaivaa kultaa lapiokaivuuna. Ojan varren maapohjan kultapitoisuus on keskimäärin 1 - 10 g/maakuutio. Alueelta on löytynyt silloin tällöin jopa yli 20 g kultakimpaleita. Suurin Suomessa löydetty kultaisomus painoi 392,9 g. Sen löysi 25.9.1935 Evert Kiviniemi Laanilan Laaninojalta. Vanha sanonta kuuluukin: Sateenkaaren päässä on kultaa! The history of Laaninoja prospecting for gold starts year 1871, when Juha Niilonpoika Kyrö built a cottage on the riverside and started to dig gold. The Company Prospektor started gold mine operations year 1901 digging altogether 6 mine shafts on the Laanila Area during 5 years time. But there was not enough cold for profitable business and operations were closed year 1907. Two of those mine shafts are located on the cache area. One, called Laanila shaft, has been reconstructed and is 20 m deep. The another one is in original form. It is 31 m deep. Don't go too near the mine shaft, it is dangerous!!! Today You can hire "an opencast small mine" to You for one day, week or longer time and start to dig gold as shovel work. There is the gold concentration about 1 - 10 g in one cubic meter of soil. It has been found now and then even over 20 g cold nuggets on this mine area. The biggest in Finland founded goldnugget weights 392,9 g. It has found by Evert Kiviniemi in Laaninoja at 25.9.1935. The old saying is: there is plenty of gold at the end of rainbow. FTF price is waiting for the first logger.
