OAHT 1509: The Band Shell
The historic Oconomowoc City Band Shell is located on the shore of Lac La Belle at City Beach.
The band shell, which replaced a gazebo, was a Roosevelt-era WPA (Works Progressive Administration) project built in 1934.
The Oconomowoc American Legion Band, established in 1924, is the community band of the City of Oconomowoc and has been designated the official Legion Band of the State of Wisconsin.. The band has been performing at City Beach since July 30, 1924, first on a six sided bandstand, located east of the present band shell. The band still performs weekly outdoor concerts on Wednesday nights during the summer. In addition to the Legion band, other local bands with a variety of music perform concerts on Friday nights. On June 30, 2010 the Band Shell was named the Rhodee Memorial Band Shell.
The Geocache is located west of the Band Shell.
