California Penguin Phloppers in Paradise! 🌴 We came out to the Mauna Lani area for a second time and had a great vacation around the Kohala Coast area. We decided to leave a cache to commemorate our good times. This trip was designed to get Middle Phlopper and Little Phlopper SCUBA certified, along with one of our traveling buddies in the Cactus Snakes. In addition we all enjoyed the snorkeling, boogie boarding, hiking, shopping, and shaved ice of the area.
Nestled within the private property of Mauna Lani is the Kalahuipua'a Historic Park, preserving some of the natural lava flow, including a nice lava tube arch. It also includes traditional fish ponds built by the local Hawaiians over 200 years ago. Public parking is right by the cache.
The cache contains a small logbook and pen, and was started with two travelers and a few other items for trade. Enjoy, mahalo, and aloha!
