Martin Short played Ned Nederlander in the film.
Ned Nederlander was a star of the silver screen in the early years of the twentieth century. He began his career at a young age, during which tie he was known as 'Little Neddy Knickers'. Some of his earliest successes include "Little Neddy, Grab Your Gun" for which he learned the art of the quick-draw and "Little Neddy Goes to War" in which his character piloted a Tubman 601.
Nederlander dreamed of using his savings to start a foundation to help homeless children. However he, Day nor Bottoms received any pay for their work, being allowed to stay at the studio mansion and to keep some of their movie costumes instead. In 1916 the combined career of the Amigos took a wrong turn when they dared to stray from their formula in "Those Darn Amigos" in which the three wealthy landowners visited Manhattan for a weekend. Although the actors saw this latest film as a good opportunity to show their musical and dancing skills, the viewing public did not embrace "Those Darn Amigos".
