Life sometimes gets in the way of caching. Having been active geocachers for a number of years, we found a cache on September 5, 2010. For whatever reason, we then didn't find another single cache until 592 days later on April 20, 2012. As we like to say, we didn't quit caching, we just went on hiatus. Then, before New Year's 2014, one of our kids asked Mrs. Team Noltex what her New Year's resolution was going to be and she jokingly said that we were going to find a cache every day for a full year. What started out as a joke on January 1, 2014 soon turned serious and we made it 365 days. But then, we just couldn't seem to stop, so we set a goal of beating our longest slump of 592 days, a goal that we previously would have given absolutely no chance of making.
But here we are. As this is written, we are at approximately 560 day of caching. In a row. Every day. I know, right? On August 17 our cache streak will have reached 593 days. So we thought, what better way to celebrate than to thank and include all of the people who helped make this possible by hiding all of those caches we've been finding? It literally couldn't have been done without all of you.
Join us for a BBQ at the Wapato Park Kiwanis Picnic Shelter, 6500 S. Sheridan in Tacoma, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The picnic shelter is at the listed coordinates and is adjacent to the off-leash dog park area. We will be providing hamburgers and beverages, so please bring potluck to go with it, chips, salad, watermelon, dessert or whatever to share.
And what happens if our streak happens to break sometime between now and day 593? We'll BBQ anyway!
Also bring with you your current stats for your longest streak and longest slump.
