Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Berks Explorers Seeking Tupperware (aka BEST) Geo-Art series. This series was created to teach Geocacher's about Berks County, and some of it's interesting facts, places, people and heritage. Once all 55 caches are found, your Geo-Art reward will be completed. Although all caches are hidden near the Lake Ontelaunee Reservoir, it is not at these posted coordinates - no swimming is required to obtain any cache in this series *smile*

BEST Geo-Art: T01/45

Ontelaunee Township, Berks County, PA

Lake Ontelaunee is a 1,082-acre reservoir owned by the City of Reading and is the second largest lake in Berks County. The lake was created in 1926 by the damming of Maiden Creek to extend and improve the water supply to the city. A large dedication ceremony was held in 1929. Today the lake still provides the water supply for the City of Reading. In addition, the lake provides a venue for hunters, fishermen, hikers, equestrians and geocachers. The lake supports a large and varied fish population including the panfish, largemouth bass, common carp, bullhead catfish, channel catfish, alewife, white perch, muskellunge, and others.

The capacity of Lake Ontelaunee is …

A. 3.68 billion gallons (N 40° 27.595 W 075° 54.194)
B. 3.78 billion gallons (N 40° 27.587 W 075° 54.205)
C. 3.88 billion gallons (N 40° 27.595 W 075° 54.205)
D. 3.98 billion gallons (N 40° 27.595 W 075° 54.216)

Note: Lake Ontelaunee is located at N 40 27.732, W 75 55.284

Note:  This cache has the hunting attribute selected. Hunters wear orange, and when the time is right, and so should you. During hunting season, it is best to do this series on a Sunday. The majority of the cache containers are hidden within 10 - 20 feet from the trail. Since these caches are hidden in the woods, you will encounter things like wildlife, poison ivy, bugs, ticks, etc. That is just part of geocaching in the great outdoors. Good Luck.

Please note that GC45CY7 - Cache Quest #8 Samurai Road was archived to make room for this BEST Geo-Art geocache.  Thanks Rentell.
