Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Berks Explorers Seeking Tupperware (aka BEST) Geo-Art series. This series was created to teach Geocacher's about Berks County, and some of it's interesting facts, places, people and heritage. Once all 55 caches are found, your Geo-Art reward will be completed. Although all caches are hidden near the Lake Ontelaunee Reservoir, it is not at these posted coordinates - no swimming is required to obtain any cache in this series *smile*

BEST Geo-Art: E15/32

Reading, Berks County, PA

Log House, Hiester House, and Market Annex is a historic building located at Reading, Berks County. The Log House was built about 1760, and is a 1 1/2-story, dwelling measuring 25 feet by 30 feet. The pine logs are chinked with cut stone and mortar, with notch and saddle corner construction. The John Hiester House was built about 1820, and is a 2 1/2-story, two-bay brick dwelling measuring 17 feet by 34 feet. It is located to the rear of the Log House and both were used for commercial activities in the 19th century. To the rear of the Hiester House is the West Reading Market Annex built in 1895. It is a brick market house measuring 165 feet long and 30 feet wide.

The complex is also the home of …

A. The Speckled Hen Cottage Pub and Alehouse (N 40° 28.466 W 075° 55.469)
B. The Thirsty Turtle Cottage Pub and Alehouse (N 40° 28.474 W 075° 55.469)

D. The Geocacher Cottage Pub and Alehouse (N 40° 28.472 W 075° 55.477)

Note: The Complex is located at N 40 20.050, W 75 55.817. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Note:  This cache has the hunting attribute selected. Hunters wear orange, and when the time is right, and so should you. During hunting season, it is best to do this series on a Sunday. The majority of the cache containers are hidden within 10 - 20 feet from the trail. Since these caches are hidden in the woods, you will encounter things like wildlife, poison ivy, bugs, ticks, etc. That is just part of geocaching in the great outdoors. Good Luck.

Please note that GC44RQX - North was archived to make room for this BEST Geo-Art geocache.  Thanks Rentell.
