This is one of our favourite places to ride to, there are lots of pathways and the kids like the playground. I thought it would be nice to host a CITO here, the recent floods dumped a lot of rubbish here, a lot of it has been cleaned up, but there's always a lot of rubbish from the busy road nearby.
The Location Joseph Coat Moth park Parkridge Ave Upper Caboolture. The park is just off Caboolture River Rd. There is a small shelter and 2 playgrounds and a dog park. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The park is very close to a convenience store, where there is plenty of parking and there is also parking just before the park close to the Girl Guide hut. The Moreton Council has created a themed kids play area in this park representing the life cycle of the moth The Joseph's Coat Moth is a beautifully marked moth and is often mistaken for a butterfly due to its bright colours. The Moreton Council has undertaken a tree planting program in the area to reintroduce the Slender Grape Vine into the area, to provide additional food sources for the Joseph's Coat Moth caterpillars. There are some caches nearby and a few more a short drive away. PLEASE NOTE- there are NO public toilets nearby. Getting There The park should be very easy to find. It's also only a 4.1km bike ride from Morayfield train station if you prefer to ride! The Event CITO is short for 'Cache In - Trash Out' and so we will gather for a usual caching event, but split up into groups to fill a bag with rubbish and reconvene at the posted co-ords. All cachers, both new and old to the game are most welcome and encouraged to come along for the day. I will have rubbish bags and gloves available, thanks to support from the local council. The event will kick off at 1pm and end at approx 2.30pm. Afterwards if anyone is interested we can move to a nearby cafe (3.7kms away) for coffee and chat. The cafe is in a hardware store which has a playground and toilets. Thanks to Net88 for her help and also Team_OShannessy who had a cache in this park some time ago.
