These long established woodlands date back to the mid 1700's when they formed part of the grounds of Cairnhill House. Cairnhill House was destroyed by fire but the Doocot and some outbuildings remain. When the modern housing was built in the 1990's the woodlands were preserved and now form an integral part of the development. The trees in the woods include oak, ash, beech, and sycamore. Patches of bluebell can be seen in the Spring and a variety of wildlife makes use of the woodland setting.
