A beautiful picnic site in Riding Mountain National Park. Note that a park entry pass is required.
Lake Katherine is a 27 ha lake with no outlet and up to 9 m deep. The far side of the lake was once a park campground built in the 1960's, closed in the 80's and then was run for a few years in the 1990's as a First Nations Interpretive Camp which ceased operations around 2000. The lake is popular for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding as it is relatively sheltered by the mixed wood forest surrounding the lake. This location is also the trailhead for the Loon's Island Trail.
