Geocache Description:

The 2015 Caesar Creek Geo-trail contains a series of geocaches highlighting fossils that may be found in Southwestern Ohio including Caesar Creek State Park.

The cache is a small camoed plastic jar with a few items - don't forget your own writing utensil.

Bryozoans are tiny creatures which live in colonial structures. Each secretes calcite to help form the structure and each creature is attached to a pit inside the structure, feeding on microscopic organisms floating by. Their fossils are quite common and are usually found in branch formations.

Permission for fossil collecting at Caesar Creek state park can be obtained thru the Corp of Engineers at: Fossil Collecting Rules

Please visit State Parks Survey to tell us about your experience at Ohio State Parks. Surveys are delivered directly to park management. We appreciate your patronage and support of Ohio’s state park system!
