10 years ago there was probably a great view of Port Underwood from here, now there is just a glimpse. In a few more years that will probably be gone too. 
Note that the section of road from Underwood and White's Bay is unsealed. Best avoided when wet as it can get quite slippery. When dry this is an excellent road. This route from Blenheim to Picton can take 2-3 times longer than the direct route along SH1. More if you are caching along the way!
