Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES - But they are a VERY good starting place!

Another classic "Main Street" which has been used in many movies, commercials and television shows.  Although this "Main Street" is really only 2 blocks long, there are some wonderful little hidden treasures.  You may have to veer to the left or right only a short way.

We have often commented when driving through small towns that many of the Main Streets look alike; that you could be set down on one and not know whether you are in Utah, Texas, or West Virginia. Yet, each has its unique identifiers.

The Latter-day Saints first settled Payson in 1850.  It was originally named Peteetneet, after a Ute Indian chief who lived near Payson's current location. However, the pioneering residents decided to change the name to Payson, after James Pace, due to the fact that no one outside of Payson knew how to spell or say Peteetneet!

In 1873 a high school was established in Payson, the first such institution in Utah south of Salt Lake City.  It closed in 1876 due to the rise of Brigham Young Academy.  An opera house was built in Payson in 1883. In the late 1800s, a factory making horse collars operated in Payson. Lots of other fun history about Payson to be found on Wikipedia here .

We took LOTS more pictures than you see here. Find something unique that's not in one of these pictures and share in your log. Hope you enjoy your walk on Main Street! There is a take-along sheet in the photo list you can print to take with you.

The solution for the final coordinates:

Add the numbers from A to G. Add 380 to this total. This number is X.

Add the numbers from H to N. Subtract 113 from this total. This number is Y (with any leading zeros to make a 3-digit number, such as 012 or 008).

The final cache is located at N 40°02.X W 111° 44.Y

Checksum: The sum of the digits in X and Y = 15.
