This cache is located along the beautiful Puarenga Stream scenic walkway which begins at the Whakarewarewa Village following alongside Puarenga Stream, past the Redwoods, under Te Ngae Road bridge, and eventually ending at a stunning view of Lake Rotorua. This picturesque walk travels through forestry and past natural hot springs. Puarenga Stream was given it's name due to the sulphuric particles found floating atop the water.
There is offstreet parking close to the cache, but I'd recommend doing the whole track from Whakarewarewa Thermal Village to the end of Puarenga Stream if you have time. There are several caches located along the way also.
This cache detours slightly off the Puarenga Stream walkway. When approaching GZ you will find a small opening amongst the trees. Follow the track down the hill all the way to the end. You will arrive at a flat rock surface at the foot of the stream. GPS may not like the location due to overhead coverage (I think that's nature giving you a hint). The location is secluded so there's no need to worry about passing foot traffic. Take care making your way down the hill. Children must be supervised as it is located right next to the stream.
Cache is a large container with some camouflage. Lots of room for swaps.
