The Dutch Reformed Church was established on 18 November 1902 and formed the central point around which the town of Vredenburg developed. The church tower, which was built later, is an important part of this landmark that makes the church visible to anyone driving through Vredenburg.
On the church grounds there is also a munument that was erected in rememberance of the 100 year anniversary of the Great Trek.
