Geocache Description:

The Iron Maiden series has made it accross the Great Divide! Just like the fabled Alexander the Great,  TwoSharpe are regular explorers and this is one of our favourate spots under one of our favourate Mountains, Mt Alexander. The views of this peak from the Taramakau, or closer to Moana are simply breathtaking. Cache is a simple park and grab in the bridge barrier. Please replace securely and use rocks to keep it in place.

Cache is loacted where the DoC track up Mt Alexander begins, which is not a light undertaking. Maybe we'll come back and put a cache on the summit one day.

This is a homage to one of many Iron Maiden songs about famous historical events or figures, this one is an old favourate from the Somewhere In Time album, that maps the life and travels of Alexander the Great. See Wikipedia for the full story, or listen to the song here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oTEQf1d9Iw

Alexander III of Macedon (20/21 July 356 – 10/11 June 323 BC), commonly known as Alexander the Great (Greek: Ἀλέξανδρος ὁ Μέγας, Aléxandros ho Mégas [a.lék.san.dros ho mé.gas]),iii[›] was a King (Basileus) of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon[1][2][3] and a member of the Argead dynasty. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander succeeded his father, Philip II, to the throne at the age of twenty. He spent most of his ruling years on an unprecedented military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa, until by the age of thirty he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from Greece to Egypt and into northwest India.[4] He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of history's most successful military commanders.[5]
