Geocache Description:

This is a series based on the ancient Irish townland system and while the places chosen may seem a little random, they all mean something to me.

A micro container with only a log so BYOP and parking is available at GZ. Please return exactly where found.

The Townland of Maynooth is in the Parish of Kilmore in the Barony of Oneillland West in The County Of Armagh.
The name possibly comes from the Gaelic name 'Mullach na Lachan' which means 'Hilltop of the Duck'.
It measures 230.64 acres making it the 550th largest townland in County Armagh.
It is bordered by Rich Hill or Legacorry, Ballyleny, Annareagh, Rockmacreeny, Shewis, Liskyborough and Corcreevy.

Maynooth has been chosen because it is the townland where my Dad's older sister and her family lived for many years. They owned a lovely house in Brentwood Park on the Annareagh Road and she later moved the short distance to Pinewood. Sadly she passed away in 2006 but I often think of her when I drive past. Gone too soon. It is also where one of my Mum's younger brothers lived with his family for many years.
