Schauble Park, located on Bergenline Ave, was dedicated in memory of Kenneth Schauble who made the ultimate sacrifice during the defense of our country on July 6, 1969 in Vietnam. The park was originally dedicated in Kenny’s memory in June of 1970, re-dedicated in June of 2000, and again in March of 2012. This park features a “skinned softball field”, named in honor of the Closter Elks and hosts men’s softball games, recreation baseball/softball games and practices, and soccer practices and games. In addition, this park features a small playground and a walking, jogging track, which encircles the entire park. This park has a rest room facility and the combination is Closter’s “zip code”. The bathrooms are closed from November-April, as the water in the parks is turned off until the spring thaw.
