Spirit Quest - Leavenworth North Road Cemetery Traditional Cache

The cache is located on the backside of the cemetery. While your here please take your time, have look around and enjoy the history that surrounds you.  The cemetery has privately owned orchards right next to it, please do not go into the orchards or block the farmers roads. The cache should be an easy find especially with the use of the hint. This cemetery is still currently active it is possible that there might mourners or other visitors, that might not understand what we are doing here. Please respect them. The cemetery hours are from 8AM to Dusk, pleass Limit your search to daylight hours only please.

The cemetery was established in the early 1900's, by the early 1960's the city had taken over the cemetery and buriels here were getting to be fewer and fewer as the other cemtery across town, the Mountain View, became more and more used.  Likely because access to that cemetery was much better.  While this cemtery has never really become inactive, new burials continued to decline.  By the late 1980's parts of the cemtery had become inacessible due to brush growth and road conditions.  In 1988 the Smith family spear headed an effort to improve the cemetery.  Starting with many long hours of debris removal.  The city of Leavenworth donated labor and machiner for the needed road repairs, the mayor at thse time donated a large portion of the money needed for gravel.  Most of the repair efforts were compleated in 1992.  The only records of the cemetery we compiled at this time, by researching obituaries in the local paper and manually walking the cemetery recording information from the headstones present at the time.  The cemetery is still maintained today by voluntieers. 

The cemetery hours are from 8AM to dusk, please limit your search to daylight hours only. While you are here please take your time and look around, and enjoy all of the history here, but remember to be respectful. The cemetery is still a little active, so it is possible that there could be mourners or other visitors that might not understand what we are doing.
