Geocache Description:


Banff  war memorial is a polished pale grey granite ashlar cenotaph of dreseed stone which stands on a raised plinth area with a curving wall of grey granite rustic blocks behind. The names of the WWI and WWII dead are listed on the tablets set into the face of the wall. The foundation stone for the War memorial was laid by HRH Princess Royal.
The monument stands by the roadside at Seafield Street and Castle Street. There is ample parking across the road.

You will need to gather information here at the memorial to find the final location of the cache  a short distance away at

Northerlies

AB = number of WORDS on front of pillar + 34

C = 4th number of 2nd date  - 4th number of 3rd date

D = Number of WWI panels to the left of the pillar

E = Number of words on top line of the foundation stone ( pillar)

 

Westerlies

V = number of words in the stone directly under the cross on pillar

W = last number in the date of  the foundation stone

X = number of letters in the  word above the dates on pillar

YZ = total number of panels with names in the wall
