The Church
St Anne’s, Hessenford was built in 1832 as a district chapel-of-ease in St Germans parish to serve the growing population in Hessenford. It was consecrated on 26th September 1833. It was built by local subscription, local labour and materials, and was dedicated on 26 September 1833, the perpetual curate being appointed by the vicar of Saint Germans.
In 1871 it was rebuilt as a church, in the early English style and has a fine barrel-vaulted roof. The church now comprises chancel, nave, aisles, with a small tower and spire. It did not contain a bell, so the church became renowned for its shotgun weddings because a volley was fired in lieu of a peal.
The lychgates, a gift, were built in 1905, the original gates being used for the entrance to the church yard.

In the lychgate is a notice board which is dedicated to Nancy Rebecca Babbage.

The cache is a very short walk away adjacent to public footpath.
The cache is a camo'd tube about 10 cms long and 3 cms in diameter.
Tree cover may upset your GPS but the hint should take you to the cache.
