Geocache Description:

This cache is placed with the cooperation of Tarbert Development Association .the materials used are recycled . The cache zone has been a part of community life for many many years and is one of the iconic Tarbert symbols . It's said if you walk around it three times and make a wish it will come true ! Some people also leave a coin or throw one into the waters of the mighty Shannon river just to get an extra bit of luck.

 

<> The tree was previously known as the tree at the captains gate as boats used to dock here with provisions for the Lesley estate just across the road. Local historians prefer this name but the wishing tree ithe more common name locally . A tree surgeon looks after the tree and had to perform some special surgery to remove coins from its bark some years ago ! We don't reccommend that you walk at the back of the Cz but  If you choose to walk around three times be careful .you can still make a wish even if you don't .  The back of the site is unstable with a long drop and there is often a high tide . You don't need to climb timber or stone and you don't need to go to the rear of the tree to find the cache .Be careful crossing the road as it can be very busy during ferry times .the cache itself is  A micro cache . Brief Parking for one car directly across from Cz. BYOP .
