Spirit of Colmor Traditional Cache

This is an offset from the Colmor Cemetery.  The cemetery is visible 1/4 mile west while on I-25; however it is 1/2 mile west from this cache site, and not visible.  The Colmor Cemetery is located on private ranch lands and is accessible with permission only.

This offset cache is located on old U.S. Highway 85.  Northbound I-25 traffic can exit at Milepost 393 while southbound I-25 traffic can exit at Milepost 404 on U.S. 85.

About 1/4 mile east of this cache is the old townsite of Colmor, which was established in 1887 as a settlement on the AT & SF RR.  Its name came from the first three letters of the two counties whose common boundary it straddles:  COLFAX and MORA.

The postoffice was in operation from 1887 to 1963.  Now the townsite is abandoned and the only residents are cows and antelopes.

This cache is placed as a tribute to the Colmor pioneers and settlers.  As a cacher, your volunteer support is solicited to place a cache at or near a cemetery of your choice.
