Built in 1875 by brothers James and Charles Phelps, the Waterford Covered Bridge is one of only two covered bridges that remain in Erie County. It crosses LeBoeuf Creek and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
It was designed by Richard Cross using a Town lattice truss. This design was developed to make bridges with small, light pieces instead of the larger, heavier pieces that were more expensive to produce.
There once was a sign on the gable of the bridge that said, "Old Kissing Bridge built in 1875 the Phelps Brothers" It is also known as the Brotherton Crossing Bridge.
