This cache has been archived.

Brad&Janet: Bob has moved on with his methods. One team is ready to find this which I am happy to facilitate even after archive. Time to go.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted location. It was chosen as it is a common decision point for me when driving to Bob-land. I would need to pass through this intersection on the way to well over 50 mystery BFE caches.

DESCRIPTION:

Bob from Elsewhere aka BFE has published over 100 mystery caches.  He uses Bob-math, Bob-logic, and Bobscure clues.

BFE caches use his trademark word REEL in their title. Bob has kindly agreed to let me borrow his trademark for this cache, which is dedicated to him and to the members of the Victims of BFE Support Group.

The vast majority of his puzzles are hidden in a broad swathe of northern Adelaide which has become known as "Bob-land". The suburb Wingfield has been known to feature from time to time.

A typical BFE puzzle might read

"Use 'AMPHITHEATRE LOOS COME BY CHANCE' to find the numbers represented by the isogram DOUBLETHINKS. (An Isogram is a word in which no letter appears twice).
Use these numbers to find the coordinates S34 (K+S)(T-E).(D-I)OH E138 (L-S)(B-T).O(U+E)(N-K)
(BODMAS does not apply)."

Or perhaps it could be

"Use the phrase "Can you guess what I am thinking?" to get the numbers represented by ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQR.
Then apply the ubiquitous BFE Fiddle Factor, in this case 1609.4257292258580505, to find the correct coordinates for the cache."

Or maybe even

"Use the characters "8vDC4yH1Z3o" and "211,32,134" in two different obscure multistep BFE ways to derive AB CD.EFG and QRS TU.VWX, which are the coordinates for the cache"

If you solve his puzzles in the correct fashion the geochecker will give a tick and often some helpful instructions re finding the cache. At GZ there will usually be a well constructed and well hidden cache.

Initially you struggle to work out what these puzzles are all about. But after a while you start to see patterns. You learn the value of bases, a particular font type, binary, ascii, ROT13, and a number of other things.  You find locations you didn't realise existed. You find obscure web pages. Very Bobscure web pages! You learn about esoteric engineering equipment and standards. You start to think like BFE!

And if you persist for long enough and you keep going back over old ones you may eventually solve and find all of the BFE mystery caches and achieve "BFE nirvana" - that uncommon state of having no more BFE mystery caches to find.

But then, just when you think you have found his last one, a new one appears! Nirvana never lasts.

In fact it probably doesn't matter where/when on the space/time continuum you are reading this, it is highly likely that BFE is out there right now hiding yet another BFE mystery puzzle cache!"

And to find this cache all you have to do is find where he is hiding.
