Maurice Lea Memorial Park is number 8 in a series along the route of a guided walk “From Pits & Pots to Parks & Woods” which can be obtained from the tourist information office at Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in Swadlincote.
The cache is sited in an area where there where spoil banks, and coal extraction had occurred.
The area was landscaped in 1929. The cost was defrayed by Herbert Lea of Dallington Northampon as a memorial to his son Lieut Maurice Bertram Lea who fell in the great war 18 Aug 1916 and also as a gift in remembrance of is own birthplace.
The Park is well used and maintained by the local council. There a number of exercise machines located in the Park.
The container is a Nano and contains a log only. A pen / pencil will be needed and tweezers will help.
