The Boston Tea Party is a famous event from the colonial period dealing with "no taxation without representation"and it helped spark the American Revolution. The Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as American Indians and threw an entire shipment of East India Company British Tea into the harbor due to the Tea Act being passed without the representation of the colonists.
This cache should not be too difficult to find if you think like the tea that was thrown overboard and where it would go.
