Doodletown is a special place to me. My parents had started bringing me hiking since I was 2 1/2 years old, and we went to Doodletown and The Timp a lot. Today I took my son and two of his friends on a 7.9 mile hike of Doodletown, West Mountain, The Timp, and back. There are many ways to get to this point, but the way I got here was to park at the recommended parking coordinates, go up Doodletown Road, and stay on it until the yellow SBM trail. After this cache, I continued to the Blue Timp-Torne Trail and went over The Timp, made a left on the Red Dot, then a left to the 1777/Pleasant Valley Road back to the car. In total that took almost 6 hours. It's a moderate to tough hike, but well worth the views once you get to them. While this place in particular isn't spectacular, it's a way to get you into the middle section of this part of Harriman. It's also a good place to take a break. You deserve it! At this point we had gone 2.49 miles and it took us 1 hour 29 minutes. Now this container is a special container. This container was Sterling Ridge by briansnat! It had been archived and I picked it up for him. He always places great caches that one has to work for, and I hope this lives up to his standards. This container has been in service since 2007.
This cache has the New York State permit 16-004.
