A very easy cache to find on the corner of Highcliff Road and Seaton Road in Portobello. It's a 50 ml container, bring your own pen. There is room to pull over of the side of the road.
There are stupefying views all along the Peninsula, but this is the best place to view a real stupa, the world's most southern Buddhist stupa, on the lower slopes of Harbour Cone. It was built in 1996 and consecrated by the Dalai Lama during a visit to Dunedin. The site has also been used for the cremations of two lamas http://www.odt.co.nz/your-town/dunedin/164655/buddhist-leader-given-ritual-farewell The stupa is on private land but apparently it can be visited by the public on Sunday afternoons http://dhargyey.org.nz/about-the-centre/stupa/
At the moment there are two slips blocking Highcliff Road to traffic just past Pukehiki so you can only drive to this cache from Portobello. http://www.dunedin.govt.nz/council-online/road-conditions
