Ho Yin was opened in 1993 and was originally named Heong San Garden. It was renamed as Garden of Commander Ho Yin on November 1996 in commemoration of the late Ho Yin, a leader of the Chinese community in the past.

A road cuts the Garden into two parts, which are accessible to each other through the underground car park built in 2005. The part nearby Avenida Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues has a fountain, fitness training equipments, children’s playground, a badminton court and many seats. The Library of Garden of Commander Ho Yin, which is further down the pathway, is a nice place to spend some time during holidays.
If the first part of the Garden is about amusement and leisure, the second half is probably for public activities. The “Commemorative Pavilion of Macao Handover” lies in the second half. One side of the Pavilion is supported by a column while the other side is a stone wall bearing the Chinese name of the Pavilion. There is an opening on the wall in the shape of “99” to symbolize Macao’s return to China in 1999. At the end of precinct is an open-air theatre with 6 pillars for holding outdoor events.
