team cyclepath: The saddest thing we've had to do as cache owners is to archive this wonderful 47% favorite point, 127 surprised (& frightened!) finds geocache. We visited today fully prepared to replace Rikki Tikki Tavi back to it's original state. However it seems local government recently purchased the property and built a new 10 foot tall fence complete with razor wire surrounding the entire property, blocking access to the cache location. Official government and manned police cars were stationed around as expected.

We considered moving the cache. But with the extensive history, story & proximity of this cache that goes back 14 years, the true story is very location specific to these very coordinates. So moving is really not an option.

Anyway, it was a fun, legendary & historic journey. Everyone seemed to appreciate & enjoy you, especially with the little adrenaline rush thrown in too!

Maybe Rikki Tikki Tavi will live on in another cache some time in the future, thanks! It was fun, we'll all miss you Rikki Tikki Tavi!

Some history (embellished a little, but factually true): This is the exact location of a cache called "CHEAP GAS REDUX" that lived here from 10-07-06 to 3-22-09, hidden by the legendary AtlantaGal. It enjoyed 53 valid logs from cachers far & wide. However, that sweet little innocent cache aka Teddy Tavi became a victim of mistaken guideline violations resulting in total online retraction in March 2009 --- then banished & vanished forever!. All 53 logs were deleted from every single cacher's stats. No evidence exists whatsoever . . . . . except, that is . . . until . . . NOW! . . . . the original camoed tin container, with it's perfectly preserved dry logs: all 53 signatures are intact on paper and in our hands! Miraculously, we found it here in the guard rail, just as we left it 6 years ago. (We were the last ones to sign the log in March 2009!) One thing that protected it for those six years was Darzee and his wife's wonderfully built bird nest filled with the best peat moss, pine straw & feathers ever! (Thank you, Darzee & family tailor birdies for protecting our museum piece cache!) Our favorite mongoose Rikki Tikki Tavi still resides in the nearby forest. THIS is where Darzee's wife & Rikki cleverly combined forces to outsmart Nag & Nagaina so they could raid their cobra nest full of eggs. . . . But rumor has it Nag & Nagaina's single surviving egg has since hatched and multiplied --- so BEWARE! You can view scans of the old cache logs here as well as pictures of the original cache container. If you are one of those 53 cachers you will recognize your signature on the images in this gallery. Thank goodness we had Rikki & the Darzees to keep the original secret cache safe from Nag & Nagaina for all these years! Hope you enjoy Rikki Tikki Tavi!
