In June 2012, the Oak Ridge Town Council voted to annex the northern portion of the Cascades Preserve, a 130 acre nature preserve, as part of an agreement between the town and Guilford County. The southern part of the preserve was already within the town limits. This agreement was made to add to the recreational “opportunities” in Oak Ridge. I read that as a Geocaching opportunity.
At some point in the future, the Southern Terminus of the Cascades Preserve will emerge from the wooded area across Haw River Rd from this cache. Since the first cache in this series was in the parking lot of the Northern Terminus, across Goodwill Church Rd from the Trailhead, it was only fitting that I placed one across the street from the proposed Southern Terminus. You may need an extraction tool to retrieve the cache itself.
