Geocache Description:

Camp Rupert was located near Paul Idaho and was opened in May 1944 with the arrival of Italian POWs.  In September 500 German POWs arrived.  In total Camp Rupert and its branch camps held over 15,000 POWs many of whom were high ranking SS including some of Hitler’s bodyguards.  The camp was closed in April 1946.

Well Team Bonnie & Clyde were out and about learnimg more of the history of Minidoka and surrounding counties when low and behold we saw a historical marker for Camp Rupert. Who would of known a POW camp was located here in our community so many years ago?

We checked our Geocaching app to see if there was a cache nearby and much to our delight the closet one was 2 miles away!

Well we just had to put a cache here in hopes of drawing more cachers to the area. While gathering information about Camp Rupert we discovered much to our dismay that there was a cache here from 04/25/2006 to 07/29/2014 and it was found 59 times.

We guess it's appropriate to place another cache here since its been almost a year to the day since the old Camp Rupert was archived. Thanks to muddawber for opening up the area for a fresh hide.

This one is easy now but we are going to modify it before winter so stay tuned.
