Placed by the 3GS mens Project Enviromental Group as part of a loop around Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tydfil
Bryn Cae Owen Pond locally known as Top Pond was once the most elevated of the feeder ponds created by the Crawshay family. Used in the iron making process the water could if necessary be fed into the four smaller ponds and in turn into Cyfarthfa Lake. It could then be fed by underground pipe to Pont Y Cafnau Bridge and on via wooden aqeuduct in a gravity fed manner to the Ironworks itself.
