Geocache Description:

Nightmare in Preston

We all know that Preston was once a logging town. Like all company towns of the time, there was company housing and commissary, the place that mill workers and loggers would meet up at during a rare free moment and enjoy a meal. The mill operated sporadically until the 1990's and slowly the company town changed. The housing was sold off to private individuals. The commissary moved to its present location in upper Preston, continuing its life as place for folks to meet. Today it is known as the VASA Hall, it has been said that once a year the long gone mill workers and loggers come back to reclaim the hall for a night of fun.

Spooky shadows of loggers past have been seen in the hall over the years, but the activity is strongest just before Halloween. We have it on good authority that this year the energy should peak on October 24. We expect the hall to be very “lively” on that day, it is possible that we may see glimpses of the old market in the kitchen or we may see the loggers still logging in the woods.

Just a few days before Halloween, your hosts, WSGA Puget Sound and NWStinkerbella, invite you to come October 24th, for the second annual Nightmare event maybe you too well see some unusual sights.

This event is open to all Geocachers and sure to be enjoyed by young and old alike. Come share a meal with old friends, meet some new ones and enjoy the Halloween Season geocaching style and experience some of the legend of the Nightmare of Preston Mill.
