Encino is Spanish for scrub oak and is a ranching community established on the AT & SF Railroad around 1904. The post office has been in operation since that time. Since most of the grazing was by large sheep ranches, most of the scrub oak is gone.
For early travelers, there was a spring southeast of Encino.
This cache is placed as a tribute to the pioneers and settlers of the Encino area. Please respect the area. We solicite your support as a cacher to place a cache at or near a cemetery of your choosing.
