Geocache Description:

"Earth Day is Everyday."

HIGH-FIVE
FOR THE EARTH
CITO!

N37°34.073' W097°18.952'

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15th

STARTING
AT 11:30AM

This is a CACHE IN - TRASH OUT event (CITO event). This CITO event is part of the Souvie Day activities in the Wichita area. The geocaching game board, aka the Earth, is pretty awesome. Clean it up by attending this CITO event on August 15th and logging the event as "Attended" and you will earn the HIGH-FIVE FOR THE EARTH souvenir.

TRASH OUT:

We will be going on a hike. From the posted coordinates, we'll clean up the grassy plains going a half mile to the west and then returning back to the posted coordinates. THEN, if you missed the trip, we'll do it AGAIN.

CACHE IN:

If you have ever wanted to hold the geocache and logbook for Sitting on a Spider, this is a most excellent opportunity, even if you can't walk. It's a half mile from the road to The Spider. It's a half mile back from The Spider. The hardest part is the last half of walking back. That's a one-mile hike. Not everyone can walk that far. Not everyone can even make it away from the road. The Souvie Day celebration is an appropriate day to do something out of the ordinary...to do something for others...to hike two miles instead of one, so that a friend can hike zero miles and sign it too...to volunteer to walk someone else's mile for them.

RUMORS:

Rumor has it that after this CITO event, if there is anyone left who is willing to make a two-mile hike, the crew may make a run for the Dream in Tengwar geocache, a D5 mystery cache with over 10 favorite points.

You may wonder, "Okay, but what do I do?" ...

  1. Before the event:
Grab as many friends as you can.
    Post a "Will Attend" log.
  2. Meet at the posted coordinates at 11:30 AM.
  3. Pick up a whole bunch of trash.
  4. Come back to this event cache listing.
  5. Log online that you "Attended."
Tell your friends to log that they "Attended" too.
  6. Feel good about what you did.

Bring a camera. Take photos. Upload the photos to the event page.

Cache In Trash Out is an environmental activity intimately tied to geocaching. Whenever you are out looking for geocaches, look around and collect litter along the trails and properly dispose of it. Practice policies of Leave No Trace (LNT.org), the center for outdoor ethics.
