This cache is a magnetic nano situated on the site of Dalwallinu’s original Shire chambers which was demolished in the early 2000s, and is now the site of the Dalwallinu Discovery Centre. The Centre was opened in September 2010 to mark the centenary of the town’s settlement. It is a multi-purpose building, being home to the Tourist Information Centre, Environmental Interpretive Centre, local library, Community Resource Centre and an agricultural bank branch. The building also has meeting rooms and a grassed amphitheatre out the front, where community events are held.
Take the time to admire the iconic trees which form part of the building design. They are not just decorative, but functional, as they act as downpipes for the roof as well as support for the verandas, roof and balcony. No tree is exactly the same, being hand-made by a local manufacturing business. On the front of the building are silhouettes of local birds. Take the time to read the plaques that tell their story.
The cache is accessible 24/7, but beware of the muggles, as the building is normally quite busy. Staff working there are aware of what you are looking for, as a staff member is the cache owner. The building is lit up at night, so care needs to be taken when searching. BYO writing stick.
Congratulations to Smittengranny for F2F
