Welcome to the Hyde Creek Green Belt. One of the largest forests in Poco, this large patch of trees and bushes was my playground when I was younger, and I wanted to share this location with everybody. Through out the park, there is a series of trails that are perfect for biking, runing, or just going for a walk. In the spring time, when all the leaves are out, it is a beautiful trip from Cedar drive to Hyde Creek Rec Centre. If there is enough snow melt, the creek will run high, and is perfect for sticking your feet in on a hot day.
In early fall, you can see the salmon spawn. Quite the sight, seeing so many large, red fish filling such a small creek. After about a month of this, the trail can get quite smelly from the dead fish. I recommend breathing thorugh your mouth during this time. The city also hosts a Salmon festival sometime in November where you can learn all about the fish, the creek, and the area itself.
If you do decide to explore this area, please be gentle with the enivronment. Don't litter, or damage plant life. Let's allow the next generation to enjoy this beautiful green area like I did when I was younger!
The cache itself is a lock and lock on the large side of the small designation. It is a few meters off of the trail, but you can get to it without having to trample through bushes. The geotrail should be quite obvious when you get close to the GZ. I could not find a pen small enough to fit into the container, so please bring your own pen! There is room for smaller tradables. I have even left a potentional geocache container for the first finder. Please be stealthy when looking for this cache, this trail gets VERY busy. Rehide exactly as you found it.
Be aware of bears in the area during the spring and summer months!
