A nice and peaceful park! There's also a little playground for children, a miniature golf course (antiquated!) and a simple bar/restaurant for some small snacks and drinks
Running along the banks of the city's Río Almendares, below the bridge on Calle 23, is this welcome oasis of greenery and fresh air in the heart of chaotic Havana. The park has been undergoing a slow restoration (and cleaning up) since the mid-1990s; benches now line the river promenade and plants grow profusely, though the river water is far from crystal clear. Inside the park you can also find the Anfiteatro Parque Almendares (a small outdoor performance space) and a dinosaur park containing stone reproductions of the monstrous reptiles. But what I personally really find an 'eye catcher' is the beautiful big tree in the middle of the park...
As GPS receivers are (still) forbidden in Cuba, here's a detailled description to find the cache without it (though the coords are pretty acurate, if you are able to use some GPS device). See also the spoiler pictures...
As you enter the park from the parking lot under the bridge, heading west (via or left of the restaurant), you'll see a magnificent big 'mangrove type' tree. Pass it on the left, follow the path along the fence and the (old and closed) gate on the south side. You'll see a big stone circle in front of some sort of fire place or so. Walk through the circle and on the other side walk about 10 m further, then turn left towards the fence, where you'll see a wooden barrier in between two stone walls. Go to the LEFT wall. The cache is placed low in a hole, behind some stones. PLEASE PLACE BACK EXACTLY AS YOU FOUND IT!
