Geocache Description:

Cache placed with the kind permission of Windyhills Farm. co-ordinates take you to the mouth of the cave, follow the instructions below to reach the cache.

This Geocache can be discovered by either by walking along the cliffs from Arbroath or parking you car on the Auchmithie road and walking down through Seaton Den woods (Approx. 1mile). Note: If coming from the Arbroath direction be sure to go down to the Bay from the Arbroath end as the northern part of the footpath is closed due to the potential for landslips. If the Seaton Den route is used please stick to path on the left which will take you past the landslip area and take you out near the path / steps that will lead down into Carlinghuegh Bay. Whichever way you choose once at Carlingheugh Bay (known locally as 'The Flares') head to the Auchmithie end of the bay where you will find a few small caves and two Big caves. The larger caves are known locally as the 'Dark cave' and the 'Light cave' and both of these caves will lead you through to the next bay.

However  please note access to these caves are tide dependent with the Light cave being closer to the Sea and needing the tide to be 3/4 out.

The Cache is hidden in the Dark cave approx 45 paces in from the mouth. The cave splits in 2 with the Left path going all the way through, if you dare continue going through to the next bay. Only the bravest of souls will attempt doing this without a flashlight as it’s well named as the DARK cave. When entering stick to the right-hand side which lead to a dead end and you will find the treasure.

I have placed it on a ledge with a flat rock in front of the Cache to help keep any Muggles in the 'dark' Please replace. (If you find it)

You will have to crouch down to get to the dead end.

Unfortunately this cache is unsuitable for wheelchair users, and is also very slippy in parts when crossing the small rocks at the bottom of the cliffs.
