Umberumberka Silver Mine
Out this way exploring and on the 'Broken Hill' tour to a nearby vista and we spied this structure from afar, so we thought we'd come to investigate.
Plenty of these structures dotted around Broken Hill, but the only one we saw on our way out here.
You will need a vehicle with higher clearance to negotiate the track off the main track/former railway. Or you could walk the last few metres.
Please be very aware that this used to be a mine site and has abandoned structures and a few shafts. All the shafts in the immediate vicinity of GZ have heavy grates made of old railway tracks, welded together, covering the shafts. There is abandoned machinery and other unwanted, rusting junk around also. So just watch your step and the Geokids.
