In the 1960s, this was an undeveloped piece of land beloved by Pooh-reading Columbia children as their 100-Acre Woods. Eventually it became the minimally-developed Rock Hill Park, but it is still a rustic place hidden paths, streams and hooting owls. After his death in 2010, it was renamed Clyde Wilson Park to honor the Columbia mayor who lived nearby and fought hard for parks, civil rights and the lifestyle those fans of Pooh sought.
Three trails take you to the cache -- all too rough and steep for bikes, but OK for adventurous kids and their adults. A minor creek runs seasonally near the cache, draining into the larger Hinkston Creek (and near yet another cache). You may need to climb off the trail, so watch for poison ivy.
We were Letterboxers for many years and maintained three boxes in this park. Now technology and mobile phone-toting grandkids have moved us into Geocaching. This is the first of what we hope are other placements with our grandchildren for their annual Camp Poppa. As Family Grimm, they have several unique boxes in the Portland, OR, area.
This box was lost in November 2018 and replaced in February 2019.
11/4/20 -- The trail was recently realigned but if you face upstream and look 1 o'clock, you can find the remnants of the old trail.
