Geocache Description:

Wadsworth, Ohio was founded in 1814. It was named after General Elijah Wadsworth, a Revolutionary War hero. Woodlawn Cemetery was established in 1817, near the center of town, on one acre of land originally owned by the father of abolitionist John Brown. Over the years the cemetery expanded to 34 acres.

Elijah Wadsworth died in Canfield, Ohio, and was not buried in Woodlawn. There are four other Revolutionary War veterans buried here. This muli-cache will take you to the final resting place of each one. The short tour should not take you very long as all of the men were buried in the old section and are in close proximity to each other. The ground, as in many old cemeteries, is uneven so please watch your step.  Caching only from dawn to dusk and please do not go onto private property during your search. Be respectful of your surroundings, the cache is not placed on any graves. Please do not post any logs or pictures containing spoilers to any of the stages. Bring your own pen and no room for trades. No logging without a signature on the paper.

The coordinates for the final stage for this multi-cache are:   N41 01.ABC W081 44.DEF

UPDATE 9/15/2016: Due to the original location of the Final being cut down by the cemetery, you must now add .222 to the North and .105 to the West to get the updated final location in the cemetery

Stage 1: The cache coordinates take you to a large boulder. A tablet on that boulder contains the names of Revolutionary War veterans from the area. E = The number of veterans listed on the tablet who are not buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. There is another boulder very close by with a plaque for the Spanish War Memorial. A = The last numerical digit on the plaque.

Stage 2: Walk to N41 01.573 W081 44.021 where you will find the grave of Michael Brouse. The stone is weathered but the name is legible. The headstone to the left of Brouse is for a woman named Maria. F = The number of letters in her husband’s first name.

Stage 3: Go to N41 01.568 W081 44.040 where you will find a tall obelisk with the name “Kirkum” on the east side. Philomen Kirkam is buried here. C = The number of family names other than “Kirkum” on the obelisk.

Stage 4: At N41 01.551 W081 44.036 you will find a 5 ft. granite marker for Elisha Hinsdale and his family. Judging by the markers, the Hinsdales appear to have been a prominent family in the community at that time. B = The last digit in George Hinsdale’s age at death. You will also find the graves of James Gifford and his family at these same coordinates. D = The number of unbroken Gifford headstones here.
